The beef that we provide to you has been raised
on organically certified land and has not been exposed to harmful
hormones, pesticides, herbicides or antibiotics.
They are free-roaming and have never been in a feed lot or a
large cattle truck.
Other than supplementation of Organic hay grown right here in NM in the winter, our cattle depend on the grass that Mother
provides. No grain is ever fed to our beef. The result is a high quality lean protein source passed on to
you. Grass fed beef is
high in Omega 3 fatty acids and Conjugated Linoliec Acid(CLA) . These substances have been shown to prevent heart disease and
cancer and lower cholesterol.
And with all the e. coli scares recently, it is significant to
point out that eating Organic Grass Fed beef greatly reduces your
chances of e coli infection as compared to eating corn fed beef.
The feed- back we have received on our beef has
been very positive.

We have customers who claim they have lowered their
blood-pressure and their cholesterol since purchasing and eating our beef.
Our beef is sold by the 1/8th,
quarter, half or whole.
We are also considering selling it in seasonal bundles i. e. Summer-grilling cuts (steaks,
hamburger), Winter cuts- roasts, stew meat.

Cattle on the range
Currently the ranch has a
small herd of angus cross cows selected for small frame size and
therefore optimal feed efficiency. The original cows were purchased
from an organic producer with fourteen years of experience selecting
cattle for good natural immunity and therefore, with less health
problems. These qualities allow HOBO ranch to provide the consumer
with a product that is environmentally friendly, healthy and
flavorful. HOBO ranch cattle are fed only grass with supplemental
certified organic hay in the winter. All activities with the land
and the cattle have followed strict rules given by USDA Organic
standards. By following these rules the ranch was awarded Organic
Certification in the spring of 2007.
All cattle are
worked and moved “a-horseback” in keeping with western tradition.
The use of horses achieves low stress on the animals as well as the
environment. The horses used are all bred, raised, and trained on
philosophy is not just about the meat. The operation is based
around family and preserving the environment and resources for
